Maintenance After your new cornrows are done, to keep them in the best condition and make them last, use a silk or satiny pillowcase or scarf to cover your hair when you sleep. This will help the style to last longer, and protect it from getting frizzy due to being pulled and matted by cotton or other fibers that hook onto the hair. Cleaning Keep your cornrows clean, you can wash your hair with cornrows, I suggest using a plastic wide tooth comb or "pick", a waterpick dental cleaner, or a shower massager set to a light pulse to clean under them without unravelling the style. How long should my hair be? Firstly your hair should be at least 10 cm long if it is straight and at least 5 cm long if it is tightly curled. This is so that it doesn't have to be braided too tightly in order to stay. If you have ever heard that cornrows are painful this is because they stylist has applied too much tension to the hair, the tension can cause bumps, hair loss, and even infections. A truly caring and experienced braid artist should not be more concerned with how a style looks at that moment, but how well it will last and the wellbeing of your hair. Cornrows Care
